ONE OF THE REASONS THE GRINCH HATES CHRISTMAS IS THE CONSUMERIST CULTURE THAT SURROUNDS IT. IN FACT, HIS VIEW OF CHRISTMAS IS OBFUSCATED TO THE POINT THAT THIS IS ALL HE THINKS CHRISTMAS IS! HIS RELEVATION AT THE END OF THE BOOK IS THAT CHRISTMAS DOESN’T COME FROM A STORE AND THIS BRINGS HIM FAITH IN THE HOLIDAY! HE WOULD NOT EVER FALL IN LOVE WITH THE ONCELER, A NOTED CAPITALIST.
so what you’re saying is that the grinch would fall in love with the lorax
Hey guys, an AO3 tag wrangler here with a small suggestion for making the lives of wranglers and the Abuse volunteers and all your fellow users a little easier. You know that impulse to post a “PROMPT ME, I WILL TAKE ANY OF THESE 50 SHIPS IN 30 FANDOMS” work?
Please don’t. These make everyone cry.
Look at all those fandoms and ship tags… that this work doesn’t apply to! Look at the fact that this isn’t even a work yet! Look at all those tags you’re asking wranglers to wrangle, usually not the existing canonicals, that appear in the bins of 30 different wrangling teams, flooding the smaller teams and annoying the big ones! Look at the Abuse volunteers getting 3 reports for your work in the first day and having to talk to you and reply to each of those people!
Aw yeah, AO3 has prompt memes and allows personal collections! Imagine your personal prompt collection:
Control when it’s open and closed!
Post a link in the notes of all your works!
Post a link on your blog and your AO3 profile!
Post the things you’ll accept in the Rules/FAQ section of the collection!
Use claims or gifts to notify the prompter when you’ve posted a work for their prompt!
Easily delete prompts that don’t follow your rules!
Post each work separately and gift each one to the prompter to build relationships and encourage interest from new fans who just noticed your work!
So much control, so much useful organization, so many fewer frustrated users finding a work with two chapters, neither of which applies to most of the relationships or fandoms tags. Why burn your bridges with some users when you’re trying for positive attention for your works?
Just imagine it: “[YourName]′s Personal Prompt Meme*”. Your name on a collection on AO3. All for you.
“aren’t you eddie brock?” “i used to be” and “is it talking to you?” “always” have the same energy and they are proof of how much of a dramatic bitch eddie is
There’s this girl at my school and she’s really nice and I remember sometime last year at one point she would carry a clicker around and click it everytime she had a happy thought/something good happened/she laughed etc. It was always kind of cute how you’d just hear the little click every once in a while throughout class it always made me smile knowing that it was bc something made her feel happy idk
she was training herself to be happy oh my god
does it work???? Imagine feeling yourself slipping into depression and you just click a few times and your brain says “wait, this is the sound of happiness I have to release serotonin”
She fucking Pavlov’d herself, the absolute madwoman
dude seeing these Mega high quality images of the surface of mars that we now have has me fucked up. Like. Mars is a place. mars is a real actual place where one could hypothetically stand. It is a physical place in the universe. ITS JUST OUT THERE LOOKING LIKE UH IDK A REGULAR OLD DESERT WITH LOTS OF ROCKS BUT ITS A WHOLE OTHER PLANET?
LIKE THIS JUST LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE A PERSON’S BACKYARD. LIKE YEA A LITTLE DUSTY MAYBE THERE WAS A SANDSTORM BUT THAT’S COOL I’M JUST GONNA WALK DOWN TO THE STORE P S Y C H YOU’RE ON MARS BICH!
It really makes you THINK that in all seriousness, we have so much yet to explore. And seeing actual pictures like these cement it for a lot of people who didnt even think twice about it before. Hell, when footage from Comet 67P (the gif below) showed up I know I cried. Because it was a moment of awe, because we finally have actual footage from the surface of a comet! And it felt and still feels like “hey, humanity has come so far and we still have so much to go. And I may not explore the universe but we’re the people who are going to make sure the people in the future do.”
There’s so many beautiful, amazing places to go here on Earth, but I cant wait for the day that we set sail into the distant unknown.
These photos of the surface of Venus really fuck me up
