I’ve seen many posts reminiscing about how buckwild Twilight was but somehow nobody seems to have mentioned the matching family jewelry?? that for some reason the movie’s costume designers thought it made sense that all of the kids would casually wear a family crest to school every day and nobody would say anything about it?? as if five weird antisocial adopted teenagers who skip school a lot and are all dating each other doesn’t just SCREAM cult activity??? if Charlie Swan hadn’t wanted to bang Carlisle he would have CPS on that family in a heartbeat, thanks for coming to my tedtalk

maybe that’s their trick? maybe every time they move to a small town they all take turns strutting and casually draping themselves over furniture in front of the chief of police until they figure out which one of them s/he is most attracted to and then that cullen (usually carlisle but sometimes esme. once, memorably, jasper) is responsible for keeping cps off their backs for the next five years.  emmett calls it operation fuck the police.

#twilight saga#chief that is definitely a cult#chief they all wear a ‘family crest’ and are dating their siblings#deputy listen up and listen good cause i’m only gonna say this once#carlisle cullen isn’t a snack#he’s a three course meal#and that family is totally normal#nothing to see there at all#except the tightest ass I’ve ever seen on a man with five teenage children

how dare you relegate this gold mine to the tags

Sidenote:

Don’t let anyone forget the fact that the President of the United States skipped out on visiting military graves for Armistice Day’s 100th anniversary.

Because of rain.

He has golfed in the rain. He was inaugurated in the rain. Other leaders–and his own subordinates–made it out there in the rain.

President Trump, though? The man who loves our troops and our country? Yeah, it’s weird that he didn’t go to the ceremony and chose to stay in his hotel room. He left our country on Veteran’s Day weekend to visit Paris for the reunion, but could not be bothered to face a little rain in order to pay his respects to the troops.

He forgets the names of the fallen. He cuts funding for veteran welfare programs. He sends our soldiers to the border for needless exercises in intimidation. Then he claims that others are weak on the military and don’t respect our troops?

What a joke.

How do you make a celebration all about other people into something all about you?

….. by not going.

He skipped visiting Arlington Cemetery yesterday as well. Like seriously, he is the biggest piece of shit.

Oh, hey, it gets WORSE:

I’ve been seeing a lot of the Doctor, Thirteen specifically being referred to as ‘soft’ and ‘pure’ and I know for some those are just joke-y labels.

New fans coming in are seeing the happy and smile-y, socially awkward Thirteen so I hope new who fans just coming in won’t be too shocked and angry when the Doctor eventually acts like a jackass.

Because they eventually will.

All Doctors have that in them, they’re the same person. They strive and choose to be kind and nice but sometimes they also fall off their own scale and become really, really angry.

They lash out, and can be, on occasion, be more terrifying than the villains they’re fighting.

As we saw in The Tsuranga Conundrum when the Doctor is hurt, panicked, and afraid they can be incredibly tunnel visioned and selfish. They’ve healed from the Time War and the 900 year seige of Tenazalore, but there’s still scar tissue there (witness her sorrow for the Former Assassin Species, she knows what it’s like to feel that way), and we saw that at this point in time the Doctor can’t take any loss.

She’s practically more dependent on the TARDIS than her other regenerations. Just having the TARDIS towed away where she parked her might trigger another panicked reaction from Thirteen.

So losing anyone she considers fam, might be the most terrible thing to happen. To her, and the universe at large.

(‘I will reduce a solar system to cinder for anyone I loved.’).

The Doctor is capable of the darkest action, they try not to but someone who is literally in a dictionary definition of genocide is not someone to be trifled with.

Unfortunately, the Doctor can also lash out against people they love too.

So… I just hope new fans also realize the Doctor can be a dick, it’s a part of them they’re trying to overcome it, and be a better person but it’s still there hidden under all the layers of bouncy smiles.

TLDR, Thirteen looks like a cinnamon roll but push comes to shove and you really get her furious, she can actually kill you. Or worse.

The Doctor’s Fate Worse Than Deaths punishment are legendary, and a lot wish the Doctor killed them instead.

(Seriously, for a heroic character their body count is… a lot. I think they’re body count is more than anyone in fiction I know).

It’s quite sick of me but I’m looking forward to this in later series.

I’m looking forward to this because I think it’s part of what makes the Doctor a fascinating character.  She has a lot of the characteristics of a villain.  In fact, the main thing that makes the Doctor not a villain is choice.  Each individual choice she makes.

And sometimes, she doesn’t make the right choice, and the villain side of her shows through, and I think that’s fascinating.  It speaks to my view on ethics.  Good isn’t something you are, good is something you try to do—complete with screw-ups.
